Stucco Repair Done Right in Kalispell & the Flathead Valley

Failing stucco is rarely just cosmetic. Cracks, hollow spots, and stained areas usually point to moisture getting behind the finish, and left alone they spread. DL Construction starts every repair with an evaluation: we sound the wall, trace the source, and tell you plainly whether you need a targeted patch or a larger section rebuilt.

The hard part of stucco repair is making the fix invisible. Matching an existing texture takes trial samples, the right aggregate, and a feel for how the original applicator worked — which is exactly where two decades of hands-on experience pays off. We feather edges, respect existing control joints, and blend transitions so your eye moves past the repair instead of landing on it.

Common projects include hairline and structural crack repair, patching after window or door replacement, correcting water-damaged areas, repairing previous low-quality patchwork, and re-coating full elevations when the existing finish is too far gone to blend. When a wall genuinely cannot be matched, we say so and give you the option of a fresh finish coat instead of a repair you would notice forever.

Repairs are quoted in writing, scheduled promptly, and finished clean. If painting is the right final step, we can handle that in the same visit rather than sending you to another contractor.

What's Included

Crack & Patch Repair

Hairline and larger crack repair, patching around new windows and doors, and correction of previous poor patchwork.

Water Damage Restoration

Removal of compromised stucco, correction of the moisture source where possible, and rebuilding of the affected area.

Texture & Color Matching

Sample-based texture and color matching so repaired areas blend with the surrounding wall wherever it is achievable.

Full Re-Coat

A fresh finish coat across an elevation or the whole property when blending individual patches would still be visible.

Repair, Recoat or Re-Stucco?

The right fix depends on what is happening behind the finish. This is how we explain the options during a walkthrough.

Targeted repair
For isolated cracks, holes or damage where the surrounding stucco is sound and the texture can be matched.
Recoat an elevation
When the wall is sound but scattered patches, stains or faded color would still show after individual repairs.
Remove and rebuild a section
When stucco is hollow, delaminating or wet behind the surface and the cause needs to be corrected first.
Full re-stucco
When failures are widespread across the house; we then quote it as a new stucco system rather than a repair.

Moisture Questions Before Any Repair

A patch over an active leak will fail again. We check:

Where the crack or stain starts
Cracks that begin at window corners, rooflines or the base of a wall often point to a flashing or drainage issue.
Hollow or soft areas
Sounding the wall shows whether the stucco is still bonded or has come loose from the substrate.
Previous patches
Earlier repairs that did not match or did not address the cause, which may need to come out.
Freeze-thaw exposure
Open cracks on weather-facing or snow-loaded walls that should be sealed before winter.

What Shapes a Repair Estimate

Repairs are quoted in writing after we see the wall. The main factors are:

Size and number of areas
One crack and a dozen scattered patches are very different jobs.
Cause of the damage
Whether moisture, impact or movement needs to be corrected behind the stucco.
Texture and color matching
How many samples it takes to blend the repair, or whether a recoat is the better option.
Access
Wall height, scaffolding and site conditions around the repair.

Stucco Repair FAQs

What types of stucco repair do you provide?

We repair cracks, holes, hollow and delaminating areas, water-damaged sections, and failed previous patches, plus full re-coats when blending is not realistic.

Can you match my existing stucco texture and color?

In most cases, yes. We build sample patches to dial in texture and color before repairing the wall. If a true match is not achievable, we explain your options up front rather than after the fact.

When does a repair make more sense than a full recoat?

A repair makes sense when the damage is limited and the rest of the wall is sound and matchable. If patches would still show, or several areas are failing, a recoat of the whole elevation usually gives a better-looking and longer-lasting result. We explain which applies after inspecting the wall.

Should I repair stucco cracks before winter?

Yes. Open cracks let moisture in, and Montana freeze-thaw cycles widen them quickly. Repairing before winter is one of the most cost-effective things you can do for a stucco exterior.
