Our story

Our Story — DL Construction

DL Construction started with one man, a trowel, and a reputation he refused to risk. Twenty-five years ago, owner Danyil Levder's grandfather began taking on stucco, plaster, and painting work throughout the Flathead Valley. He had no marketing budget and no crew to hide behind — every job either brought the next one or ended the line. So he prepared surfaces properly, finished them carefully, cleaned up before he left, and told people the truth about what their walls needed. That is how the name got known from Kalispell to Bigfork.

Danyil grew up around that work — mixing material, sanding, watching an experienced hand pull a finish coat flat. Then he left to work in Europe for roughly seven years, where stucco, lime plaster, and mineral finishes are not a specialty item but ordinary construction, and where a wavy wall or a soft corner is simply not accepted. He came home with two decades of total hands-on experience and a much higher bar for what "finished" means.

Five years ago his grandfather handed him the company. Danyil kept everything that made it work — the honesty, the clean job sites, the direct phone number — and added the finishes the valley could not easily get: polished Venetian plaster, seamless micro cement showers and floors, hand-troweled stucco textures matched to an existing wall, full-height stone fireplaces laid out before a single piece is set.

Today DL Construction handles the entire finishing package for homeowners, builders, and commercial property owners across Kalispell, Bigfork, Lakeside, Whitefish, and Columbia Falls. Danyil still walks every property himself, writes every proposal, approves every sample board, and returns for the final walkthrough. Two generations in, the promise has not changed: we do not leave a wall until it is right.

Danyil Levder Finishing a Wall in the Flathead Valley

This is what the work actually looks like: a hand-troweled stucco finish being pulled flat, coat by coat, on a Montana home. No stand-in crew and no stock footage — the same hands that price your project are the ones on the wall.

Careful masking, protected windows, clean scaffold planks, and a finish worked while the material is still open — small habits that decide whether a wall still looks right five winters from now.

A 25-Year Family Legacy in the Flathead Valley

The business is 25 years old. It was founded by owner Danyil Levder's grandfather, who worked throughout the Flathead Valley for 25 years building a reputation on careful, honest work. Five years ago he passed the company to Danyil, who has carried the same standard forward — the same insistence on preparation, cleanliness, and finishes that hold up.

That continuity matters in a valley where word of mouth is everything. When you hire DL Construction you are hiring a name that has been accountable in this community for a quarter century, not a crew passing through for a busy season.

European Craftsmanship Standards

Danyil lived and worked in Europe for roughly seven years, where stucco, plaster, and mineral finishes are everyday construction rather than a specialty — and where the tolerance for a sloppy edge is essentially zero. He brings that training home, along with about 20 years of total hands-on experience in the industry.

Practically, that shows up as flatter walls, crisper corners, better texture matching, and finishes like polished Venetian plaster and micro cement that most local contractors do not offer at all.

Meet the owner

Danyil Levder — Owner

Danyil is a second-generation craftsman with roughly 20 years of industry experience. After about seven years living and working in Europe, he returned to take over the family business his grandfather ran in the Flathead Valley for 25 years. He personally oversees every DL Construction project — walking the property, writing the proposal, approving the samples, and standing behind the finished result.

“You will speak with me directly, not a salesperson — and I will tell you honestly when a repair is the smarter option than a replacement.”

About DL Construction — FAQs

How long has DL Construction been in business?

The company is 25 years old. It was founded by Danyil Levder's grandfather and passed to Danyil five years ago, so the name has been accountable in this valley for a quarter century.

What does European craftsmanship actually mean here?

Danyil spent roughly seven years living and working in Europe, where stucco, plaster, and mineral finishes are everyday construction held to very tight tolerances. In practice it means flatter walls, crisper corners, better texture matching, and finishes like polished Venetian plaster and micro cement.

Do you handle every trade in-house?

The finishing trades, yes — stucco, plaster, micro cement, drywall, stone, siding, and painting. Having one crew handle them means transitions between materials are tight and nobody is pointing fingers over a detail.

Will you tell me if a repair is smarter than a replacement?

Always. If patching and blending will give you the result you want for less money, that is what we will recommend — and if a true match is not achievable, we say so before the work starts, not after.
